RAID 0, also called Stripping, is not redundant but allows several disks to behave as one. In RAID-0, data is distributed across different disks in blocks, which greatly improves read/write performance. Since no redundant information is stored, while performance is very good, the failure of any disk will result in total data loss. The risk of data loss increases with the number of disks: if one fails, all data is lost. Two to six disks can be used depending on the server. Usable space: The sum of all disks in the array. RAID Level 1

RAID 1 is also known as mirroring. It provides redundancy by duplicating all data from the first disk to the second. The performance of a Level 1 array is slightly better than a single disk, but if any disk fails, no information is lost. Two identical disks are required. Usable space: The size of one of the disks in the array. RAID Level 5

RAID 5 distributes data in blocks across several disks and parity information is stored on the disks in parallel. Parity information is never on the same disk as the data it protects. This allows data to be rebuilt in case of a disk failure. Performance of a level 5 array is very good for writing (same as RAID 0). Writing requires updating parity, which slows down small random writes. Large or sequential writes are relatively fast. Three or more disks are required. Usable space: The sum of all disks in the array minus one. RAID 10 (0+1)

RAID 10 (0+1) is a multi-level array that distributes data in blocks (RAID 0) across mirrored disk groups (RAID 1). RAID 0+1 offers better performance than RAID 5 with redundancy in exchange for usable space. Since each disk in the array is replicated, parity information does not need to be generated. RAID 0+1 requires four S-ATA or SCSI disks. Usable space: Half the sum of all disks in the array.

You can easily upgrade to a higher dedicated server plan via your LWS Panel. Simply go to your VPS/Cloud/dedicated server administration, click on "Change plan" and select a new plan. Upgrading to a higher plan is done in a few clicks with no service interruption. To downgrade, you will need to transfer all data from your old server to the new one. Contact us if you need help.

You can restart your server from a simple web browser independently, thanks to the one-click reboot button available in your LWS client area.

Each LWS dedicated server (except low-cost plans) allows you to create "snapshots" of your system, i.e., save the current state of your server. This useful tool lets you perform updates and other operations on your system risk-free. You can easily revert to a previous state of your VPS if needed.
