Wat is de Whois-directory?
Whois is een directory waarin de gegevens van domeinnaameigenaren staan.
Het werkt als een telefoonboek: zodra u een domeinnaam koopt, worden uw contactgegevens (naam, voornaam, postadres, e-mail, telefoonnummer...) openbaar gemaakt Whois database.
Zo kan iedereen deze informatie zien en gebruiken om contact met je op te nemen.
GDPR-conforme anonieme Whois
We verbergen de privégegevens van onze klanten (personen) in Whois-directories. Dit beperkt de ontvangst van spam (reclame, oplichting...), valse e-mails van fraudeurs die zich voordoen als uw domeinregistrar om u te laten verlengen via een frauduleuze link.
Sinds de verordening van 25 mei 2018 hebben we de publicatie van contactgegevens van domeinnaameigenaren in de Whois-directory compliant gemaakt.
Hoe werkt de optie Anonieme Whois?
Wanneer we een domeinnaam aan een klant leveren, is Anonymous Whois standaard ingeschakeld (in verschillende mate, afhankelijk van of het domein is geregistreerd door een individu of een bedrijf).
Dit garandeert uw privacy in alle officiële Whois-tools en voldoet strikt aan de GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). U kunt echter, via een instelling in uw klantengedeelte, de weergave van uw contactgegevens in Whois forceren.

Wat zijn de voordelen van de optie Anonieme Whois?
Met de optie Anonieme Whois kun je al je contactgegevens verbergen: naam, voornaam, adres, e-mail, telefoon in Whois-tools. De Anonieme Whois-optie is inbegrepen bij elk domein bij LWS, maar de informatie wordt niet op dezelfde manier verborgen als het om een individu of een organisatie gaat.
Wat zijn de voordelen van Whois-beveiliging?
Whois Protection is een gratis dienst die wordt aangeboden wanneer u uw domeinnaam bij LWS koopt en waarmee u uw contactgegevens in de Whois-directory kunt verbergen. Dit is bijvoorbeeld effectief om sommige e-mailspammers te vermijden.
Ik ben een bedrijf, kan ik mijn Whois-informatie verbergen?
Ja, Anonieme Whois is beschikbaar voor bedrijven met een domein met een extensie zoals .COM, .NET, ORG, .INFO, .BIZ, .NAME, .TV..... Maar alleen het e-mailadres wordt verborgen, in tegenstelling tot voor particulieren.
